FREE Voice Coaching Workshop for poets!

LEDBURY POETRY FESTIVAL

FULLY FUNDED LINKLATER METHOD VOICE COACHING RESIDENTIAL WORKSHOP FOR NEW POETS

  DATES: 13 – 16 MAY 2019

HELLENS MANOR, MUCH MARCLE NR LEDBURY, HEREFORDSHIRE, HR8 2LY

Ledbury Poetry Festival presents an exciting

opportunity for new and emerging poets to improve their performance technique

We work with poets and publishers in order to reach poets who would most benefit. The workshop fills the gap between publishing and performance, where a poet has the writing skills, but not necessarily the performance skills to deliver their poetry how they wish it to be heard. The poet will have published at least their first collection, and have had some foray into performing at festivals or events. The residential includes all accommodation, tutoring and is fully catered with delicious home made food on the premises.

Tutor:  Françoise Walot is an actor, director and vocal coach. She is a designated Linklater Teacher, currently teaching voice in the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (UK). Françoise has developed and run these courses specifically for poets over the last 4 years for Ledbury Poetry Festival.

Testimonials:

“The workshop has been life-changing. I cannot tell you how much I have needed to draw on it” Mona Arshi

“I don’t believe I have ever before encountered such generosity in any workshop situation. The joint commitment of the Festival and its funders to supporting emerging poets is quite extraordinary and deeply appreciated.” Ian Tromp

“ It is an experience I will treasure and think about for years to come; the people, the place, the supportive atmosphere, the time and space given to think about how to read the poems” Dorothy Lehane

Hellens Manor is an ancient family home dating back to the C11th. The course will take place in its recently refurbished Georgian Stables which sit within the landscape of lawns, meadow and paddocks. The rare 17th century octagonal dovecot, a physic garden, yew labyrinth, herb and kitchen gardens, woodlands and ponds are delight to the eye and nourishment for one’s spirit.
