At this time of painful endings – climate change, political distrust, war and a global pandemic – what
gladness can poetry offer us? In conversation with poet & translator, Iain Galbraith, two poets from
opposite ends of the UK, Alyson Hallett and Em Strang, present compelling narratives of the
redemptive powers of nature, entanglement and embodied presence. Em Strang’s Horse-Man and
Alyson Hallet’s Tilted Ground invite us to remember that grief and joy are two sides of the same
mysterious coin.
