“If art is created with the whole person, then the art will come out whole”.. – S. Nachmanovitch
Embodied Poetry is a body-centred exploration of the reading, performing and writing of poetry. It
offers a combination of a rigorous, intellectual approach to poetry, alongside and in equal measure
to, a somatic experience and understanding of it. How can the body teach us to trust ourselves as
writers, to follow our intuition, without being crushed by the inner critic? How can movement and
sounding ground us in the wisdom of the poet beneath the poet?
In this two-hour workshop with Em Strang, there will be unbridled permission to play with and excavate the
relationship between the body and the poem. This will include movement as well as writing, reading
and sharing work. Open to beginners and seasoned poets alike.
Venue: The Heritage Centre
