Using pictures from family albums, journalism, art and the natural world, participants will study snapshots, professional photos and photo poems to explore how moments captured in time can be used as a lens for writing new poetry. The workshop will focus on how to read a photograph; how to investigate the transience of images caught in a wider context; the idea of back story and future story; and how to reveal detail like pattern, emotion, metaphor and voice through the writer’s relationship with photographic images. Open to all levels of writing experience.
Venue: The Heritage Centre
