Brace yourselves for a knockout night of poetry as worldly wordsmiths take the page onto the stage to compete for points that lead to prizes! In this popular contest, brave bards parade their poems in a bid to reach the hearts and hearing parts of the public. Random judges award points for style, content and warmth of the applaudience, so who will fire on all syllables into the final and become Ledbury’s Slam Luminary? Join heavenly hosts Sara-Jane Arbury and Steve Rooney for an energetic evening of good verbal vibrations and lend your support for those taking a stanza on stage.
Described by one reviewer as ‘delivering ironic and witty observations from the hard shoulder of life’s motorway’ Steve Rooney has been performing poetry since 2001. A former Ledbury Poetry Festival and UK Allstars Poetry Slam champion, he has performed at gigs and festivals across the UK, including the Edinburgh Fringe, Cheltenham Literature Festival, Wychwood Festival, Latitude Festival and a community ‘fun day’ on the outskirts of Derby where, despite stiff competition from the falconry display, he still drew a crowd of seven.
